So Meze Empyrean, considered by many to be one of the best flat magnet headphones, has evolved even further. In our short news, let's summarize what we know about Meze Empyrean II for now. Baia Mare, Romanian-based Meze Audio has carefully modified what it sees as defining details, affecting both the exterior and sound. At the same time, the effort was also to preserve what was preferred by the previous generation.

The metal parts of the headphones are CNC milled, and the exterior is dominated by matte black parts with silver accents. Followers of the brand will immediately recognize that the former protective grille has been redesigned, its pattern inspired by the timeless art deco trend.

Modifications were also made to the loudspeaker developed by Rinaro called the Isodynamic Hybrid Array. According to the manufacturer's announcement, you can expect a clearer, deeper and more enjoyable sound experience. During development, the aim was to express finer details more efficiently and to make the sound more natural, while maintaining the character that is easy to listen to. The resistance of the speaker diaphragm has also been improved to better withstand higher loads.

To this day, the isodynamic speaker can only be found in Meze reference headphones. Its most striking feature is that (unlike traditional flat magnet headphones) its conductor thread responsible for producing sounds is not arranged in straight stripes. A more serpentine-like shape can be observed at the top, which is the area focusing on the bass, and underneath it is a circular spiral section radiating sound waves towards the ear canal. This area displays higher frequencies more efficiently.

Among its advantages, it is worth mentioning that it can ensure the full frequency response within 0.1% THD (total harmonic distortion). Another notable detail compared to the previous release is that the weight has been further reduced and the active surface area on the speaker has been increased. The upper frequency limit is 110,000 Hz, which the human ear cannot perceive, but suggests that the speaker can provide more linearity up to 20 kHz, which can still be perceived by the ear.

The headphone cable (and all its components) can be replaced in case of damage, the manufacturer makes a conscious effort to ensure that its products offer a long service life. Another accessory worth mentioning is the ear cushion, of which two sets are included in the package. One was called Angled and the other Duo, the latter specifically tailored to the acoustic characteristics of Empyrean, upholstery made of leather and alcantara.
