All members of the Bugera 5881 vacuum tube undergo a number of quality checks, such as the 48-hour test and the shock test. The 5881 is known colloquially as a 6L6 tube. The 6L6 and 5881 are the most successful vacuum tubes used in guitar amplifiers. Their full sound characteristics give soft mid tones in addition to low and high emphasis. Their versatility has formed the basis of many channel-switching amplifiers, as they perfectly reproduce the gain from clean sound to crunch to CRUSH.
