MANCHESTER MS121

The MS121 is a compact passive single 21" 8,000 Watt (peak) subwoofer that is ideally suited for a broad range of speech and music sound reinforcement applications in both fixed, portable and touring audio systems. The MS121 is designed to work in conjunction with Lake DSP and Lab Gruppen amplification, providing optimal FOH performance, as well as considerable flexibility to readily adapt to varying venue requirements. Its four-point rigging system allows for an array of multiple configurations and all pre-sets are available to download.

Custom-Engineered Drivers

Enclosure Design

The low distortion design utilised in the MS121 reinforces the low frequency spectrum in program or live music, steep cut-off slopes and DLP Technology (Diverging Laminar Port) ensure an effective acoustic transition for use with MV210-HC and other Manchester series elements. For low-frequency bass extension, the recommended cabinet ratio consists of one MS121 subwoofer per one Manchester Array element.  Cardioid and End-Fire pre-sets are available for all Manchester series subwoofers in Lake Load Library.

Construction and Connectivity

An integral suspension system engineered to meet BGV-C1 specifications is provided for suspending or ground stacking MS121 and MV210-HC elements with a 10:1 safety factor. Designed for speed and simplicity of use, custom-engineered fly grinds and wheel boards are available as separate accessories. Finished in a ultra-hard wearing polyurea black coating, the cabinet is constructed from 18 mm (3/4") & 21 mm (7/8”) birch plywood and includes a rugged powder coated perforated steel mesh grille backed with reticulated foam. The rear panel connector plate carries Neutrik speakON* NL4 connectors for input and link connections to additional enclosures.

Integration with Lab Gruppen PLM+

With the ever-increasing complexity of modern-day line array systems. Seamless integration with the Lab Gruppen PLM+ is a prerequisite for the MANCHESTER series from Turbosound. Turbosound's engineers have prepared and meticulously designed a series of presets that will allow the user to achieve the maximum system performance and consistency possible.

Acoustic Simulation Tools

EASE GLL files are provided for the EASE Focus 3 Acoustics Simulation Software, which is available for free download. This allows accurate calculation of both acoustic coverage and selection of suspension pick point for tilting and aiming the array at the desired angle.

Architecture and Engineering Specifications

The loudspeaker shall be of the passive subwoofer type, consisting of one 21" (530 mm) LF drivers. Performance specifications of a typical production unit shall meet or exceed the following: frequency response, measured with swept sine wave input, shall be flat within ±3 dB from 25 Hz to 95 Hz and within -10 dB from 20 Hz to 200 Hz. Nominal dispersion shall be “half space.” Maximum amplifier output power shall be 4,000 Watts peak, Sensitivity, measured on axis, mean averaged over the stated bandwidth, shall be LF: 97 dB, 1 Watt @ 1 metre. Peak level at 1 m under half space conditions using IEC 268-5 pink noise with crest factor 4, with dedicated pre-set, shall be 142 dB. Dimensions: 599 mm high x 777 mm wide x 800 mm deep (23.6 x 30.6 x 31.5”). Net weight: 87.4 kg (192.7 lbs). The loudspeaker system shall be the TURBOSOUND MS121. No other loudspeaker shall be acceptable unless submitted data from an independent test laboratory verifies that the above combined performance / size specifications are equalled or exceeded.
